Race Concept

This 1 day ultra event joins the 8th stage of The Malaysian Book of Records attempt to run 2,200+ kilometres around the Peninsula. As with all the other events in the Tour of Peninsula Ultra Series its intention is to promote and celebrate the culture, countryside and vibrant colors of the Malaysian Peninsula as well as encourage and promote running to the people on the Malaysian peninsula.

With Sunday being traditionally the day for a long slow distance (LSD) run we hope the variety of distances this event offers runners it can appeal to not just those wanting to take on an Ultra distance run but to many other runners too. Therefore, we hope it can provide a useful and helpful stepping stone that can satisfy a runners urge to keep improving and extending themselves to take on bigger and longer challenges. 

It'll help people explore the northern part of the Peninsula Malaysia visiting the state capitals of Kedah & Perils where they can enjoy many of its famous northern towns and the many Kampungs (villages) that the route will pass through.

Race date : 8th December 2021                                            Start time : 7am, Cut off time : 8pm, Distance : 70kms

Route Description : The start line at Aik Min is located just north of Guar Chempedak. Despite its name linking it to one of Malaysia's most magnificent fruits. It is smack bang in the middle of "the rice bowl" of Malaysia. As here the north trunk road (FT1) cuts across the northern padi fields that produce most of the country's rice. After passing through Simpang Empat the run into the city centre of Alor Setar, Kedah's capital, is relatively flat. Weather permitting there could even be a cooling breeze coming off of the Straits of Malacca. The route passes the famous and unique Balai Noblat that was built in 1906. The southern leg ends here and the northern leg starts and crosses the Kedah River heading eastwards to the coastal road rather than heading directly north on the old trunk road. This passes through many smaller Kampungs (villages) including Kampong Bakan famed for its large freshwater prawns and continues into the finish line at The Putra Regency Hotel in the centre of Kangsar, the capital of Perlis.

Endurance Nature events are open to all irrespective of nationality/residency and the costs of entry and subsequent terms and conditions apply to all participants equally.

Also Endurance Nature is a supporter of MURA (The Malaysian Ultra Runners Association) and offers its members a discount to all its Ultra distance events. 

To be eligible for MURA member discount, applicants need to be MURA members 15 days before each period (early bird, standard and late).

Entries are limited to 100 participants only. These are awarded on a strict 1st come 1st served basis.

Fees exclude the Race Registration fee levied by our appointed Race Registration Portal

The fee includes the following:

Medical Support during the event
Race timing;
Event tee for finishers;
A downloadable e-certificate;
A Minimum Contribution to the Orang Asli Charity/Cause
A Minimum Contribution to offset carbon impact

The fee does not include:

Accommodation for runners and support crews;
Food and beverages for the runner and the crews throughout the entire duration of the race;
All expenses related to the support car and crews. Runners will bare/share these expenses separately.

Event Details :

The most important detail of this event is that it is unsupported. This means that it will be the participants responsibility to carry/source their own nutrition and hydration for each stage.

The second most important detail is that the route will be unmarked. Other than at the start and finish there there is no signage to guide participants.

A gpx file with the route and a route narrative will be provided to each participant. It will be their responsibility to keep to the correct course.

The event will be timed using a simple start and finish time at the designated start and finishing locations for each stage and rankings will be decided on the cumulative times as each stage is completed.

As the course will not be marshalled participants are required to have their own GPS tracking device and to upload their personal run on to a public domain like Strava. Their times will not be confirmed until that has happened and been verified against the manual timings.

Rankings and Prizes :

The race winner will be the runner that takes the shortest cumulative time (Gun time) to reach the finish point;

Reaching the finish line does not in itself entitle the runner to a place in the rankings. To be awarded an official ranking position the runner must complete each stage within the allotted cut off times, comply with the mandatory items requirement/inspections and at the end of each stage upload their personal GPS device to a public domain like Strava.

No prize money will be awarded but prizes for the 1st finisher each day will be awarded and for the 1st 3 finishers wintry the fastest cumulative times. All finishers will be awarded with a Finishers Tee Shirt.

Rules and Regulations for Runners in Ultra Distance Categories...

Given the reasonable race fee for all events under the Tour of Peninsula Ultra Event Series (ToP) 2021 the primary rule is that runners will run these events on a self sufficient basis. To avoid any confusion self sufficiency is defined as follows...


  • Runners must complete the set course on foot by their own power and ability within the stipulated time;

  • There are no organised water station points on the race course. Water will only be organised for runners at the start and finish when runners will need to have their own drinking cup/container suitable for the purpose of decanting water into.

  • No pacers are allowed to run along with the runners for any part of the course.

  • No personal assistance (a support crew) is allowed.

Runners Responsibility

Health requirements:

Every competitor must present a medical certificate of being in good health acquired within three months before the race date. 

The following medical conditions will prevent the competitor from taking part in the race: heart disease (including congenital heart disease, rheumatic heart disease and so on), myocarditis, coronary artery disease, severe arrhythmia, hypertension, cerebrovascular disease, diabetes with much high blood sugar, as well as any other medical condition deemed unsuitable for taking part in this extreme race.

Every competitor must fill out the Participation Statement completely, and when check-in before the race, re-confirmation and re-signature will be required. 

Race Experience Required for Race #3, 4,5 & 6 Ultra Categories e.g. Single Day Ultra events:

  • Has previously completed LGM at least one Marathon Distance (42kms) road race within two years before registration date 

Runners must understand the unique nature and requirements of competing in an ultra-long distance road running race.

He/she will be running all day on the road. He/she must have undertaken the necessary training to compete in such an event.

Runners must run on the right hand side of the road towards oncoming traffic at all times. The only exception to this is if there is a footpath which they can run on. Any runner seen doing otherwise risks incurring time penalties and/or disqualification.

Runners will be responsible for his/her own safety by having the ability and skills to deal with problems that may be encountered during the race of this nature.

Runners must be able to undertake or deal with on his/her own without any other external assistance during the deteriorating weather conditions (e.g. raining, strong winds, hot sun and etc..) and other unforeseen circumstances arising while running. 

In the event of a runner meeting another runner who is in health difficulty or injured, he/she must stop to help and inform the race organiser to seek medical assistance. Failure to do so may result in penalties or disqualification being imposed to the runner or runners concerned.

Closing of Registration

  • Upon reaching 100 registered runners for all categories except the shorter community runs of 5km & 10km

  • Upon reaching 250 registered runners for the community runs of 5km & 10km

  • 100% of race registration fee will need to be paid to secure a slot on a first come first serve basis. 

Race support

  • Due to the definition of "self sufficiency" in terms of their being no aid stations all race participants must prepare and carry their own food and beverages for the whole duration of their race. As only limited supplies of water will be available before and after the race. Additionally, they must carry sufficient cash to purchase additional and/or emergency supplies along the way;

  • Race participants may leave their belongings in a drop bag at the start and the organisers will see this is sent to the finish line for participants.

  • Participants may rest and sleep along the route so long as they ensure that they are in a safe location. Any participants who are found or deemed to be in an unsafe location or who have travel from the place of rest other than by foot risk disqualification;

Code of Conduct

  • The participants must respect all the organizers, referees, workers, medical staffs and volunteers. Any competitor found violating this rule shall be penalized.

  • The participants must abide by every article of Malaysia's laws and regulations and respect the local customs and religious beliefs.

  • If a participant encounters a safety issue which would endanger him or her, or other personnel (including other participants, organizers, staff, medical personnel and volunteers etc.), the competitor is required to report the issue to the Organizing Committee as soon as possible, and describe the issue in detail to the organizers.

  • If a participant see's another participant in distress they must stop and offer assistance. Not to do so would be considered unsportsmanlike conduct and could be penalised. 

Right of Final Interpretation

The Organizing Committee reserves the right of final interpretation of all documents relevant to the race.

Rules & regulations

1. All events in the Tour of Peninsula Ultra Event Series (ToP) 2021 are open to the general public who are 18 or over, including international runners with a valid passport;

2.  Race entry fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-deferrable;

3.  Change of category or other details will not be allowed after race entry has been confirmed. If the Participant wish, he/she can make another new registration to change to another category;

4.  The Organisers reserve the right to limit, accept or reject any entries without prior notice and reasons;

5.  The Organisers reserve the right to close the entries before the announced deadline without any notice or when the quota for the allocated slots have been fully taken up;

6.  The Organisers reserve the right to prevent/stop a Participant from racing or continuing to race should he/she fail to follow the rules and regulation of the race;

7.  Whilst the organisers will take every possible steps and measures to ensure the safety of the Participant, the Participant is taking part at entirely his/her own risks and the Organisers, their sponsors, their appointed officials and volunteers shall not be liable for any death or injury, loss or damage, suffered or otherwise and however arising;

8.  The Organisers reserve the right to stop any Participants from continuing with the race if the participants are deemed to be physically incapable of continuing with the race, so as to avoid causing him/her greater harm/injury to himself or herself;

9.   The Organisers reserve the right to change the event date and event venue at their own discretion;

10.  The Organisers reserve the right to use any photographs (including those of Participants), motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising; As a result, each participant expressly foregoes his/her image rights for the photos taken for the duration of the race, and undertakes not to take any action against the organisers and their authorised partners for the use of his/her image.

11.  Participants must agree to receive from the organisers from time to time emails, SMS blast. Any notice sent by email from The Organisers or the party assigned by the Organisers to the supplied address on the registration form shall be assumed as received by the Participant. 

12.  The Organisers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the race in the event of inclement weather or any form of acts of God (haze, flood, lightning, thunderstorm, typhoons and etc).  Should the above mentioned conditions persist after the delay, deemed to be unsafe or impossible to proceed, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel the race without any refunds of fees or donations paid unless the Organisers have considerations to give a refund and The Organisers shall not be held liable for any loss or inconvenience caused. 

13.  The organisers reserve the right to amend the Rules & Regulations without giving prior notification or any reasons thereof.

14.  Completion of the registration form and payment indicate that the Participant's agreement to abide by the above rules and regulation of the race.

Mandatory Items...

By entering the race, each runner undertakes to take with him/her all the mandatory items as listed below throughout the race.

Failure to do so will result in application of the time penalties or disqualification.

  2. Rear Blinking lights; Participants must ensure that they wear these during the hours of darkness before 7am and after 7pm
  3. Basic Emergency First Aid Kit

Recommended (not compulsory):

  1. Each bib is given individually to each runner in the Race Pack, upon presentation of suitable identity document;

  2. Each runner will be given one bib number: this must be worn and clearly visible on the chest or stomach or on the back of the backpack carried by the runners;
  3. No fee is refundable after the registration is completed;

Race Course Markings

The race course is NOT marked. Runners must follow the directions given by the race organiser in the route narrative and/or gpx files that can be downloaded from the race briefing email that they'll receive before the event; 

Drop Bags & Luggage

There is no ability to have a drop bag en route but participants luggage will be transported to the finishing line for those that are participating without their own a support vehicle,


  1. In order to ensure race safety, race organiser will prepare and arrange for rescue and medical assistance during the race. However, each participant must recognise and understand that there are risks of injuries and/or accidents associated with trail running. Runners are participating in this race at his/her own risk;

  2. While the race organiser has purchased Public Liability Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance coverage (hospitalisation) for this event, it is strongly recommended that the runners obtained an adequate Personal Accident Insurance coverage for himself;

  3. If necessary, and in the interests of the person being rescued, at the exclusive discretion of the organisers, the official medical rescue services may be called upon to take over operations, using any means they consider appropriate, including an ambulance. Any costs deriving from such exceptional transport will be charged to the person who has been rescued;

  4. Depending on the runner's health condition, an emergency evacuation may be required. This emergency evacuation will be at the expenses of the person being rescued;

  5. The official race medical assistants are authorised to withdraw from the competition any runners that they consider as unfit to continue or are in danger. The runner bib will be removed as part of the DNF (Did Not Finish) procedures;

  6. If a runner drops out from the race, the runner must first inform and register with the race headquarters on the mobile number provided on the race bib. Proper "DNF" procedure should be followed and completed before the runner is allowed to leave the event:

  7. In case of an emergency, if you are unable to reach the race headquarters, you can also call the public emergency number '999' directly for help;

  8. The race organisers reserves the right to implement any additional measures at any time to enhance and protect the safety of the race and the runners before the race and during the race.


  1. Only runners sporting their regular bib number will have access to the water station;

  2. No water cups will be dispensed to the runners. Runners will need to use their own cups or containers for any drinks served at the checkpoints or water stations;

  3. The organisers reserve the rights to carry out mandatory item checks at any point on the route during the race;

  4. In the event of poor weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organisers reserve the rights to suspend the race or to make changes to the cut-off times;

DNF (Did not Finish) PROCEDURES

  1. Runners may DNF voluntarily at any point along the race course or if they miss the finishing cut off time;
  2.  Runners who decide to pull out voluntarily must call race HQ and register their decision. They must supply a location and arrangements will be made to collect them. They will be brought to the finish area where they must complete and sign a DNF Form, and the bib will be specially marked to indicate the DNF status of the runners.

  3. Runners who fail to arrive at the finish within the stipulated cut-off time will be allowed to continue running in the race on subsequent days but their time will not be recorded. His/her bib will be specially marked, and a DNF Form will need to be signed;

  4. Runners who fail to notify the organisers immediately of his/her voluntary DNF, thereby setting in motion a search and rescue operations by the rescue staff, will be liable to pay for any costs deriving there-from;

  5. Runners who have missed the cut off time are not allowed to continue his/her run. If he/she insists on continuing to run, he/she is NO LONGER in this event, and will be running entirely on his/her own accord and at his/her own risk. The organizer reserves the right to ban this kind of runner from future events that Endurance Nature organise.

  6. The DNF runners should rest at a bright, safe place with sufficient phone coverage and wait for a non scheduled race shuttle for pick up and delivery to the finish point;

  7. If runners are unable to move on his/her own and are unable to find a bright safe place as in 6 above, he/she should contact the emergency number '999' or the race headquarters to seek assistance.


  1. Not carrying the mandatory items during the race, including not wearing reflector vest or bright blinking accessories during the night;

  2. Taking shortcuts and/or running off the track;

  3. Throw any garbage along the running route.

  4. Cheating (e.g. using other means of transportation, using substitute runners and other unlawful actions);

  5. Not abiding by the rules and regulation given by the race organizer and official race staffs including medical assistants, emergency staffs and marshals;

  6. Not wearing the race bib at all times during the race;

  7. Continue to run after the cut off time without the agreement of race officials;

  8. Doping and the use of prohibited drugs;

  9. Running with his/her supporters


Breaking of any rules may incur time penalties or disqualification. Any such penalties are at the organizer's discretion and are final.


Suggestions must be in writing and must be presented after the closing ceremony of the event at the finishing point or sent to


  1. The organisers reserve the rights, at any time and without prior notice, to make changes to the route and checkpoints/water station points or to the time deadlines;

  2. In the event of adverse weather conditions (a strong depression with heavy rain), the start of the race may be postponed for 6 hours at most, after which time the race will be cancelled;

  3. Where necessary, the organisers reserve the rights to make changes to or eliminate certain stretches of the route.
